Record the basis beside the number

A label number without its denominator is incomplete. Zuke’s Chicken publishes 2710kcal/kg and 2kcal/piece; Original Crunch With Liver publishes 3160kcal/kg and 2.9kcal/treat; Little-Jacs publishes 3074kcal/kg and 2.8kcal/treat. The finder displays each source’s paired declarations. It does not combine those fields into a newly inferred physical specification.

Use the piece figure only as stated

A published per-piece value is a label reference, not a guarantee that every irregular morsel has laboratory-identical energy. It can help you recognize which formula you are reading, but it does not establish a medical allowance or prove a bag has a certain number of pieces. Keep the recipe and label version attached whenever you transcribe it.

Do not back-calculate piece weight

Dividing energy per kilogram by energy per piece appears to give pieces per kilogram. That quotient depends on the precision and assumptions of the underlying declarations; it is not an exact counted supply. This site therefore does not use it for per-piece prices, reward-count inventory or days of use. The bag tool uses declared net ounces instead.

Separate label comparison from personal allocation

A shopper comparing the published fields can see the bases and ask a veterinarian about their existing plan. This page does not calculate a “ten percent” allowance, calories for a dog’s body weight or how many pieces should be used in a session. Those outputs would need an individualized nutritional context that an online shopping record does not have.

Handle a changed number explicitly

If a new received label states a different energy value, compare flavor, size, formula and date rather than averaging old and new figures. An older “under 3calories” headline cannot resolve a mismatch in the current detailed panel. Save the exact number and basis from the received package and request clarification from the maker before treating a conflicting web field as current for that batch.

A changed calorie headline is a source question

If an old package image says “less than3” while a current detailed panel says2kcal/piece, retain the detailed current source and the older image’s date or version limit. The two phrases may be compatible, but they do not prove every historical formula had the same energy. Do not average them, claim an improved formula, or infer a reason for a change. Ask the maker about the actual received lot when its panel differs from the online record.
