Keep item amounts in cents

One each of the three selected offers totals $23.46: $7.99 plus $10.99 plus $4.48. The local basket parses prices as integer cents rather than multiplying binary decimal money. Its supported entry format is a nonnegative amount with at most two decimal places. The exact observed amounts remain dated offers; you may replace them with current quotes.

Apply the credit to merchandise only

A $23.46 merchandise credit against that one-each basket produces zero net merchandise. A $23.47 credit is rejected as exceeding the subtotal. The tool does not silently clamp an excessive entry or create a negative purchase total. If shipping is $4.99 and other known charges are zero, the full merchandise credit still leaves $4.99 due in this limited estimate.

Do not pretend an example is a promotion

The full-credit scenario tests arithmetic. It is not an advertised Petco or Chewy coupon and does not claim that a merchant will accept it. Real codes may exclude brands, require a minimum spend, apply per merchant or treat shipping differently. A mixed-merchant basket especially needs its own verified order terms. Enter only the merchandise adjustment that applies to your actual quote.

Check a small decimal boundary

With a user-entered 10-cent item and quantity three, the subtotal is 30cents. A30-cent credit is valid and leaves zero;31cents is invalid. Likewise, $47.99 times two is $95.98, so a $95.98 full credit is valid and $95.99 is not. These are calculation test inputs, not observed treat prices. The final monetary result is formatted only after integer calculations.

Leave unknown charges unknown

Shipping and tax must be known before the form claims a complete local estimate. It still shows merchandise when those charges are pending. An empty price, excessive precision, exponent notation, negative input or quantity beyond the stated maximum produces an explicit incomplete or invalid state. Recheck the actual merchant checkout; this site cannot reserve stock, place an order or guarantee a final charge.

Keep the credit within the relevant order

A credit issued by one merchant does not automatically apply to a mixed-merchant subtotal. If $10 belongs to a specific Petco order, calculate that order’s eligible merchandise separately under its actual terms. The $23.46 full-credit example tests cents and shipping behavior, not merchant acceptance. Save which order and items the adjustment applies to. This avoids a calculator producing a correct mathematical total for a discount that was never available on the contemplated purchase.
